Yokohama-city, Japan, to accept Ukraine Refugees

On Mar. 8, 2022, Mayor of Yokohama-city, Kanagawa Pref., Japan, declared that Yokohama-city prepared approximately 80 municipal housings for Ukraine refugees.

The city is said to be preparing the donation for Ukraine, and the official announcement on the donation will be soon made.

The municipal housings are located in 7 wards in Yokohama-city, and its number is about 80.

In Yokohama-city, 122 Ukrainians reside. Yokohama-city has an assumption that Ukraine refugees will come to Yokohama-city to ask for their help.

Japan’s recognized number of refugees in 2020 is only 47 and the recognizing rate is only 0.5%.

Also, Japan’s recognized number of refugees in 2019 is only 44 and the recognizing rate is only 0.4%.
